I wanted to share this one post as a reference for anyone searching Google for information on where to buy sleds in February when there's a snowstorm.
Last night I went in search of sleds. Sabbath ended around 5 p.m., and I found out Marden's in Ellsworth closed at 5, so my next option was Renys, which closed at 6. I called and they had a few, so I went there. They had a few plastic tibaggan-shaped ones for $7.99 each, so I bought 2. They also had inflatable snow tubes, so I bought one of the larger ones, which came to $20.03 with tax.
Next, I called Walgreens, Walmart, Home Depot, and none of them had sleds in stock. Tractor Supply had some foam ones, which is what I was looking for, so I bought the larger one for $35, which is more than I wanted to pay, but not much more than I would pay online, and I would have it in hand. I also picked up a small round plastic saucer style sled for $6.99 while I was there, just to try it out.
I went to Bar Harbor to deliver 2 sleds to my friends, and stopped for some groceries at Hannaford. Surprisingly, they had foam sleds for $20, which was $10 cheaper than the same size at Tractor Supply, so I got 3 of those also. My friends picked the tibaggan style sleds, so I returned 2 of the foam ones to Hannaford on my way home. Now I have a decent collection of sleds in preparation for today's blizzard, and all I need now are some recommendations for good sledding hills near Trenton, Maine. Suggestions welcome. Happy sledding everyone!
